St Michaels is the Parish Church of Workington and the site of our church has been a place of worship since the twelfth century. In fact, evidence exists that this may have been a place of worship as long ago as the sixth century.
Such is the history associated with the site that an archaeological dig took place after the fire in 1994. We are currently working with English Heritage North West and Cumbria's Archaeological department, detailing all the items of interest.
