Mark Hazzard
Commencing piano lessons at an early age, Mark began organ lessons at St Michael's before taking lessons with David Sanger (president of the Royal College of Organists).
Mark studied music at Lancaster University where he was first Organ Scholar then Assistant Organist at Lancaster Cathedral, studying with Damian Howard. Whilst at university, Mark gained experience as both an organist and conductor, conducting works including Handel's Messiah and Jenkins' Requiem.
Mark returned to West Cumbria to teach, where he was appointed as Director of Music at Workington Parish Church and conducts The Oswald Singers.
Away from the world of classical music Mark's other keen interest is musical theatre, which has resulted in many requests for his services as musical director. He has directed many productions including Sister Act, Ghost the Musical, 9 to 5 the Musical, Legally Blonde, Fame and High School Musical.
